Weng was sentenced to 18 months for stealing $900,000 from an 82-year-old victim. Weng, who is from New York, stole the money from April to July, 2024. The ruse that was used to trick the victim was that governments were stealing money from her bank account. The victim was instructed to pay Weng, acting as a courier, with gold bars. The victim eventually detected the ruse, and notified the Montgomery County police, who arrested Weng.
