Lewis D. Baker

Lewis D. Baker, CFP® is a seasoned wealth advisor whose practice focuses on comprehensive financial planning with tax efficiency. His primary focus is on strategic planning and the management of assets to provide consistent income streams, and the efficient transfer of wealth to the next generation.

Lew started his career 27 years ago at Merrill Lynch where he excelled and earned numerous accolades such as Merrill Lynch’s Fast Start, Winner’s Circle, and Masters awards. In 1999 he joined Morgan Stanley and became a vice president there at the age of 30.

A member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), Lew built his success upon a solid foundation of investment knowledge, but also recognized that financial planning and tax efficiency can be of equal or greater value to individual investors. His passion for leadership and helping others led him to leave the large corporate structure of Morgan Stanley to launch his own firm, Baker Schilling Wealth Strategies, in 2002. With the addition of new team members, in 2018, Lew launched Rock Creek Wealth Planners and Advisors, a goal-oriented planning-based firm serving the needs of pre-retirees, retirees, and business owners.

A graduate of the United States Military Academy he has served his country as a U.S. Army Infantry Officer serving over 12 years on both active duty and in the reserves. Over the years, he has also served his community as a member of organizations focused on mentoring underprivileged youth including Project North Star, Concerned Black Men, the Joy of Sports Foundation, and Ready Golf Academy. He has also given back to his alma mater as an outreach officer for West Point; and currently serves as a service academy selection board member for U.S. Representative Eleanor Holmes-Norton.
