Malachi Mullings from the state of Georgia was sentenced for laundering more than 4.5 million from romance schemes, email compromise schemes, and defrauding a health care benefit program. From 2019 to July 2021, Mullings opened 20 bank accounts by a fake LLC to launder millions of dollars. Several of the victims Mullings targeted were the elderly. He used this money to buy luxury items such as cars and jewelry. For example, he used a romance scheme to get 260,000 dollars for a new Ferrari. Mullings pleaded guilty back in January of 2023.
